3- BBC Radio Collection - Blackadder Goes Forth Audiobook

Richard Curtis' and Ben Elton's award-winning comedy in which Rowan Atkinson as the ubiquitous Blackadder, ably hampered by Tony Robinson as the loyal Baldrick, wreaks havoc throughout the centuries.

Hugh Laurie, Stephen Fry, Robbie Coltrane, Rik Mayall and Miranda Richardson are some of the guest stars joining in the fun. In the occasionally poignant final series, Blackadder enjoys his last incarnation by going over the top in the British Army during World War I.

4- BBC Radio Dramatization - Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy

Tolstoys story of one womans fate is brought powerfully to life in this BBC Radio full-cast dramatization starring Teresa Gallagher and Toby Stephens.Anna Karenina enjoys a privileged and aristocratic lifestyle as the wife of influential government official Alexy Karenin.

Yet their ten-year marriage is devoid of tenderness, and when Anna falls in love with the handsome Count Vronsky, they embark upon a deep and passionate affair. Reflecting the social conditions of the era in which it was written, Tolstoys masterpiece sets a doomed love story against a harsh and unforgiving backdrop.

5- BBC Radio Dramatization - Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen

Catherine Morland, the heroine of Northanger Abbey, is a plucky tomboy longing for the kind of adventures that she fervently consumes in the popular gothic novels of the day.

She is whisked off to Bath with her friends the Allens for her first foray into society. It is a time and place of rigid social decorum, where an ambiguously phrased salutation or a damp afternoon can cause as much seismic anxiety and dread as a blood-stained dagger or an imprisoned governess in one of her favourite books.

6- BBC Radio Dramatization - The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas

Alexander Dumas classic tale The Count of Monte Cristo is splendidly played out in this BBC production. As Edmond Dantes returns from sea to the girl and job of his dreams his meddling "friends" become jealous and have him unjustly imprisoned.

He later escapes, acquires a fortune and sets out to exact revenge on the men who destroyed his life. Originally aired in 1987 this nearly 7 hour long production stars  Andrew Sachs, Nigel Anthony, Steve Hodson, Paul Gregory, Geoffrey Matthews, Melinda Walker and Leslie Sands.
