Fun Zone 2 Photocopiable Activities Teachers Resource Book

The activities can be used in the following ways: – alongside the practice material in the Student’s Book and Workbook units – at the end of the Student’s Book and Workbook units to give further practice of the language students have just learnt  before moving on to the next unit – for revision purposes at the end of term, or at any other time before a test is given.
The aim of these activities is to give your students the opportunity to practise the language in a fun and communicative way. For example, some of the activities require students to work in pairs and exchange information with a partner to complete  a table. If, however, teachers feel that students need more controlled practice of a particular language area, options are given for how to adapt suitable activities for different classroom situations.

2 Flashcard activities for use with English Zone 1
3 Fun with grammar and vocabulary: photocopiable activities for your students to do in pairs, groups or on their own. Again, these can
be used with English Zone 1, Brainwaves 1 or Project 1.
In general those activities can be used with any coursebook aimed at 10-12 year-olds

An Illustrated History of Britain

This is an illustrated history of Britain from prehistoric times to the present day. The book analyzes the major political and military events in British history, and where appropriate, looks at these within a wider, international context. It also describes everyday life for men and women from different levels of society in different ages: the kind of work they did, family life, etc.

Emphasis is also placed on cultural, intellectual, scientific and economic developments. Major developments within Scotland, Ireland and Wales and the relations between these countries and England are also discussed.

A Cluster Approach to Elementary Vocabulary Instruction - Reading Aids Series

Intended for elementary school teachers, researchers, and materials developers, this book presents a cluster approach to vocabulary instruction, in which words are taught in semantically related groups. Over 7,000 words from elementary school textbooks have been organized into 61 instructional clusters, each containing two levels of subclusters which are grouped according to closeness of semantic relationship.

For each word, the authors have provided a recommended grade level, its part of speech, and a note on whether it is a basic, fundamental building block word. The list of clusters is presented in the appendix. The four chapters that precede the appendix describe vocabulary theory, procedures for forming the clusters, instructional uses of the clusters, and additional vocabulary activities not directly tied to cluster approach. Also included in separate appendixes are (1) an alphabetized, referenced list of the words; and (2) definitions of commonly confused words such as "infer" and "imply."
