Every piece of reading or writing you do can be categorized as narrative, descriptive, or expository. The two most common types are expository and narrative.
The short story, novel, and drama (the play) are all forms of narrative or story-telling; explanations, persuasive writing, journal writing, and editorials, on the other hand, are classed as expository writing. Descriptive writing is usually found within longer narrative or expository passages.
