This has a decent coverage of the basics of most of what you need to know for the test, but its sample tests are horrible. Obviously, the SAT II Literature test is not a difficult level of analysis and thus its answers should be easy to explain and very concrete.

Compare this books questions to those on collegeboard and the difference is apparent; this book fails to adequately justify its answers, often dismissing the answer similar to the correct answer as being "less accurate" rather than indicating evidence from the text.

Barron How To Prepare For The SAT 23th Edition

The new 23nd edition of this test prep manual for the all-important SAT college entrance test has been heavily revised and updated to reflect the exam’s major changes, beginning in March 2005.

The old Verbal section’s name has been changed to Critical Reading, with all analogies questions now eliminated, and with short reading passages now added to the existing long reading passages.

An entirely new Writing section has been added to the SAT, which is similar to the current SAT II Writing test. It consists of multiple-choice questions on grammar and usage and a required student-written essay.

The math section has been expanded to include topics from third-year college preparatory math, and the old quantitative comparisons questions have been dropped.

The 1000 Most Common SAT Words

We have selected 1000 words for you to help you reach the right level for the SAT. There are 10 word lists with one hundred words each to make for easier learning.

Keep a notebook with you when you do any SAT verbal test so that you can compile your own personal word list. Look up the words in a good dictionary. Regular vocabulary work does get results.

Some students mistakenly think that learning words is a waste since the chances of the words appearing on the actual SAT test is low. But, in fact, the common words crop up with great regularity on the tests and you would be harming your chances of doing well if you don't learn all the words we have given. Also this is your chance to spend a couple of months building a vocabulary that will be an asset forever.
